Beach Whitehead (1799 - 1874)

Beach Whitehead, my fourth great-grandfather, was born about 1799 in Fairfield County, Connecticut.  He married Sally Jennings on May 31, 1824 in Redding, Fairfield, Connecticut.  They were married by Daniel Crocker, Minister of the Gospel.  Sally Jennings, born February 13, 1804 in Wilton, Fairfield, Connecticut, was the daughter of Moses Jennings and Ann Lobdell.

In 1828 Beach and Sally were living in a house constructed by him at 140 Old Redding Road in Redding. He is listed as a laborer in the 1850 U.S. census although he was listed as farmer in later censuses.  In 1870, he owned 5 acres of improved land in Redding valued at $500, 1 cow and 2 swine.  He was a member of the Congregational Church in Redding.

Beach died of pneumonia on December 13, 1874 at the age of 75 in Redding.  He is buried in Umpawaug Cemetery.  By 1880 Sally was living with her daughter Georgiana and Georgiana's family in Redding.  In 1888 Sally quit-claimed (along with others in the family) four and one-half acres to Georgiana. Sally died of pulmonary tuberculosis on December 5, 1892 at the age of 88 in Redding.

I am looking for the parents of Beach Whitehead.

John and Elizabeth (Townsend) Pinchbeck

John Pinchbeck, my fourth great-grandfather, was baptized on July 8, 1731 in Normanby by Spital, Lincolnshire, England.  He was a child of Robert and Mary (Haulkshey) Pinchbeck.  John Pinchbeck and Elizabeth Townsend were married on May 14, 1758 in Kirton in Lindsey, Lincolnshire.  I have not identified the parents of Elizabeth Townsend.

Children of John and Elizabeth Pinchbeck:

  1. William Pinchbeck, bapt. July 15, 1759, Kirton in Lindsey, Lincolnshire; d. November 12, 1836, Wainfleet All Saints, Lincolnshire; m. March 3, 1789 Ann Marsdon, Lincoln, Lincolnshire
  2. John Pinchbeck, bapt. October 4, 1767, Scothern, Lincolnshire
  3. Robert Pinchbeck, bapt. April 23, 1775, Scothern, Lincolnshire
It is probable that there were other children in this family.  Any cousins out there with more information about John and Elizabeth and their family, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
