Rebecca Galbreath Hanlin (1841 - 1911)

My great-grandmother, Rebecca Galbreath was born October 23, 1841 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; most likely in Ligonier.  She was the daughter of Robert and Martha Galbreath.  Up through the 1870 census, she can be found living in Ligonier with her parents and siblings.  In 1870, she was a school teacher.

Rebecca Galbreath married Levi Hanlin about 1872.  Their children were Zeruah Hanlin Speicher (husband William Speicher), died 1928, buried at Maple Spring Church Cemetery, Conemaugh, Pennsylvania;  Robert Hanlin (wife Emma Horner), died 1954, buried at Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Jenner, Pennsylvania; Hulda Hanlin, died 1925, buried at Ligonier Valley Cemetery, Ligonier, Pennsylvania; my grandfather Harrison H. Hanlin, died 1962, buried at Ligonier Valley Cemetery; and Margaret Hanlin Custer Baldwin (husbands Peter Custer and Francis Baldwin), died 1944, buried at United Church of Christ (Reformed) Cemetery, Jennerstown, Pennsylvania.

After her marriage, Rebecca moved to Jenner, Somerset County, Pennsylvania where her husband grew up.  She lived there until her death, November 16, 1911, from pulmonary tuberculosis.  She was buried on November 18, 1911 at Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Jenner.
